Adriana’s POV

2019

As I sit and stare at my laptop, my mind went back to when I was with him. Him? I meant my ex-boyfriend, Jesse. He had golden blonde hair with green eyes. When his eyes stare at you it felt like the whole world had stop and the only thing that mattered in his world was you. He’s an expert at making other people feel included. He would remember each inside joke someone threw out in the open without a fault. And, no matter how hard I try to ignore him, he’s still on my mind.

Rewind

It was Saturday, 9th November 2019, we were supposed to go to church together and afterwards, it was our plan to go to a poetry-reading but Jesse canceled. He called me as I was finished getting ready to cancel. Needless to say, I was devastated. I hate people who canceled plans so easily. It’s like, hello? I thought we were on this together. But, as always, I kept my feelings and thoughts inside, I don’t want to lose control. Not with him. Jesse is all I have, he had stayed with me through thick and thin. When my parents separated 4 years ago he was the first person I told. Jesse knew how to handle me, all my outburst, all my sadness. He was my whole world, and still is. That’s why I’m afraid I will never be able to let him go.

Third Person POV

First Meeting

2012

McDonald’s Sudirman, 8.30ish pm

A boy sitting while eating coned ice cream stood out in the crowd, he was quite tall at 183cm. His green eyes and blonde hair distinguished him more. He was waiting, a friend who had borrowed his country club house for a birthday party. He was having second thoughts about borrowing the club to his friend but it was too late to cancel. Jesse Babolina was his name, he inherited his outlander look from his father Peter Babolina, an Australian who had lived in Jogjakarta since the 1990s. While his mom always regrets how little he looked like her she loved him nevertheless. His mom is Javanese, it was quite known that she has blue blood though she never mentions it.

“Hi, are you Jesse?” a young girl about 16 years old asked, it was quite obvious she’s unsure.

“Yes, I am. Harry told me that he was gonna bring a friend to help out with the concept of the party at Bale Uttara? Are you the friend?”

“Yes, indeed, I am. My name is Adriana, nice to meet you,” she put her palm out. Jesse responded her handshake, “Nice to meet you too,” he couldn’t hide his grin. He’s happy that the so-called friend has good looks.

Adriana is indeed 16 years old, she had just cut her hair to a bob because she believed she was becoming a woman and to become a woman she needs to do drastic make-over. She believed she was able to achieve this by cutting her hair, and so it went. Adriana wore black pants with batik top, she loved all things batik. It was her secret obsession. It reminded her of her mother. Like her mother, Adriana has tanned skin, her hair as black as the sky at night though she was thinking of coloring her hair like her best friend, Anita. Truth be told she’s a bit insecure about her looks never mind that in real life almost everyone would admit that she’s beautiful. All of her self-improvement and self-empowering books threw outside the window because of her own insecurities.

Their first meeting was magical. After introduction both Jesse and Adriana talked endlessly for 2,5 hours. The only thing stopping them from talking all night was Adriana’s mother calling at 11pm reminding her to come home because the gate to their house would be closed at 12am. Through their meeting, Adriana found out that Jesse has 2 younger sisters and 1 younger brother, their family used to live in Lagos, Nigeria because of his father’s work at a multinational oil company. He was rich, there’s no denying that but Adriana didn’t care. All she cared about was how passionate Jesse is at describing Twilight, New Moon and Breaking Dawn. Yes, Jesse loved all Stephanie Meyer’s books. This was intriguing to Adriana. She never met a boy who liked Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. All she knew about Twilight she read from Sparknotes website a website that she used to help with her schoolwork. She read blogging twilight made by Dan Bergstein to cheer her up because it was so funny.

“Alright, I’ll be going now my mom’s calling me gotta go home,” Adriana said with a hint of sadness wishing she could stay and talk with Jesse more.

“Yes, of course you should go home, do you need a ride back home? I got my car with me” asked Jesse.

“No need, I ride my motorcycle here and so I’m gonna have to ride it too back home,” Adriana said.

“Alright then, be careful, by the way could I get your contact number? So you could text me when you arrive home. I want to make sure you got home safely,” Jesse didn’t want to miss his chance at contacting her again. She is funny and engaging he can’t wait for their next meeting. He now doesn’t regret his decision to let Harry borrowed country club.

“Sure, my cell number is 08970994768. See you later, alligator,” Adriana said goodbye. And just like that she was gone. Jesse was left alone amazed, he felt like he found the one.

to be continued..

Dear my readers,

Hi everyone, thank you for reading my blog post. I’m trying to create a short story since I have nothing to do now during the holidays. I hope to publish a post every 3 days. Let’s hope I could stick to my deadline so you could continue to read and find out what would happen between Jesse and Adriana. This is fiction but I try to make it real so you could enjoy all the drama. See you on the next part :)

Regards,

Laras
